A Model Example

A MODEL EXAMPLE

Only then is a detailed model made, in conjunction with the full

involvement of our naval architect, the final CAD drawings for manufacture

being produced with the aid of this finished model. This ensures that

what you see is what you get, and if necessary an additional

tank model is also tested at this stage to ratify the computer predictions

regarding hydrodynamics.

LIVING STYLE THAT WORKS

The interior is laid out in such a way as to maximise the use of

space for the owner's particular requirements, to ensure that there

is easy and logical movement around the vessel, and that each arrangement

is fit for the function that it must perform, both at sea and in port.

By avoiding the temptation to try and cram in too many cabins for

'showroom' appeal, a yacht with spacious comfortable living spaces

and airy cabins is the result - a yacht that will be kept and enjoyed,

and not 'sold on' immediately.

A HARMONIOUS LOOK

This is the basis for our approach to interior design, where a

theme or series of related themes is created to provide a style and

look that give complete continuity of colour schemes, shapes,

textures and finishes. Fully integrated lighting (by daylight and

also by ambient sources) throughout the yacht is given priority from

the outset of the concept, to ensure complete efficiency without ugly

intrusions.

ATTENTION TO DETAIL

Finishing touches and fine detailing are as important as the overall

design itself, and mindful of this NOUVELLE VAGUE have designed several

ranges of 'signature' door and bathroom furniture, light fittings,

deck fittings and furniture, to ensure that every last detail

is both perfect and harmonious within the context of the yacht's flowing

lines and styling themes. To an automotive designer this "jewellery"

is what gives a car its feeling of quality and personality which sets

it apart from the common herd - this level of design and thinking

is again well overdue in the yacht market.

BUILD QUALITY AND RELIABILITY

By selecting appropriate builders with a reputation for yachts

of lasting quality, who are familiar with the latest technology

as well as possessing a flair for yachts of style and ingenuity, a

totally reliable and very modern construction can be undertaken

with complete confidence. Only leading manufacturers' equipment is

specified, and their ability to provide world-wide service for all

items is a prerequisite.

A LASTING INVESTMENT

In addition to build quality, a higher retained/resale value van

be expected from a yacht that whilst being modern, has looks that

will not date
. Many of the design influences and themes used by

NOUVELLE VAGUE have been drawn from past classics, with each yacht

being carefully conceived to embody a timeless look that would be

equally at home in 1920 or 2020, as much as it is today - this will

naturally add to the lasting value of the investment.

CONCEPTS THAT WORK

All NOUVELLE VAGUE's concepts and design ideas are checked out

with the American Bureau of Shipping and our preferred naval

architects Nigel Gee and Associates, one of the most respected

names in high-speed yacht and fast ferry design, and with whom the

partnership has an association.

TOTAL COMMITMENT

From concept to launch, NOUVELLE VAGUE gives complete commitment

to the project management of all aspects of the styling and

design, to ensure that the concepts become reality in a timely

and cost-effective manner
, and without the danger of any modifications

or equipment being fitted that could detract from either the appearance

or functional operation of the vessel.

THE NEW WAVE

NOUVELLE VAGUE was born out of a desire to create a new generation

of Superyachts, more striking in form, more elegant in shape, more

purposeful in function than any of their antecedents.

We believe that a Superyacht should be an art form, an object of

great beauty to be admired for its pleasing lines, adored for its

sculptured form and coveted for the pleasure and prestige it brings

its owner.

Every yacht we design reflects these ideals and represents a very

personal statement from its owner, fulfilling a dream made possible

through considerable achievement. Every detail of the design and interior

styling we consider to be important, however small. It is the sum

of these parts that makes the whole completely faithful to the theme

that runs through each individual creation.

To ensure that there is no dilution of spirit during the build

programme, we personally supervise the acquisition, provision and

installation of all elements of the design package, whether it be

an escutcheon plate or an egg timer. Avoiding compromise, we harmonise

and integrate where necessity demands, thereby retaining the presence

and feel that have been created on the drawing board.

Accordingly we believe that project management of the design and

styling is as important as the generation of great ideals and plans.

It is this completeness of follow-through that ensures a reputation

for excellence is ever present.

NOUVELLE VAGUE WAVES THE RULES

In the race to move forward, innovate and redefine the principles

and parameters by which Superyachts are judged today, it is sometimes

necessary to re-examine the origins and the raison d'être of the genre.

In the quest for true progress and lasting style, it is important

to consider the forces and influences that made many great icons of

the past so special and so enduring. It is a refusal to accept the status quo that is central to our design philosophy and is reflected

in the style of work we produce.

LAPIS TO LALIQUE

Carolina Herrera said when addressing the question of style versus

glitz: 'Simplicity is the basis of elegance. The more simple you are,

the more elegant you look' and we have great sympathy with this philosophy.

A simple and elegantly sculpted vase from the classic house of

Lalique makes a far more pleasing statement than a salon decked our

in Lapis Lazuli.

While true style is never cheap, money alone does not always provide

a stylish solution.

WORKING WITH COLOUR

We feel that the use of 'Colourways' is of paramount importance

in creating a natural and inviting environment with a feeling of space,

comfort and warmth, and we have a special understanding of the intimacy

and aesthetic requirements that are embodied in a fine Superyacht.

Colour, whether muted or bold, should be used to enhance and not

to dominate or mask. It is this special sensitivity to the use of

colour that is always apparent in our interiors.

TECHNOLOGY AND TRADITION

We believe that a new wave of interior design and styling, combining

the traditions of the sea with the cutting-edge of modern technology

and materials, and retaining craftsmanship while harmoniously integrating

the very best of new technology, is the way forward. There is no reason

in a world of computers and satellites, that function cannot be combined

with form to provide convenience and utility in a pleasing and stylish

manner, without being intrusive.

We envisage a navigation, communications and ship management consul

that admirably demonstrates how technology and craft can be both complimentary

and in unison.

SERIOUS FUN

Sir John Harvey-Jones said when speaking of success, that one must

love one's product and love one's work. This is an easy task for us:

our enthusiasm and enjoyment show through in our designs.

Although we take our business very seriously, we never forget that

we are in the business of fun.

OWNERS WITH VISION

We are confident that our work, borne out of considerable experience

and natural talent, will have unique appeal to a new breed of Superyacht

owner who wishes to stand out from the crowd. Our clients will be

trend-setters rather than followers, and will share our attitude towards

progress and dedication to excellence.

Many mature and experienced owners will find this approach both

refreshing and challenging, recognising it as a style that will endure.
