In order to apply their skills and experience to the design of

Superyachts, an exhaustive study has been made of past and current

yachts and the design thinking embodied therein. In many cases obvious

mistakes have been made, typically with lines and shapes not being

fully integrated, with the result that the discordant features stand

out and spoil what could have been a good yacht.

Again, in many of the general arrangements, space has not been

effectively managed and the function has not been fully considered

or thought through. Many designers often appear to forget that people

come in larger sizes, making it a discomfort - not a pleasure - to

move around the yacht.

One of the greatest failings in many of today's yachts is that

the design and engineering have again not been properly integrated,

giving the appearance of a yacht that bristles with afterthoughts,

ruining the vessel's appearance and effectively its resale value.

Mindful of these pitfalls, NOUVELLE VAGUE designs avoid them by

the adoption of the following disciplines.

With the hullines, superstructure, deck layout and profile, all

lines, shapes and surfaces are integrated to look right from all angles.

This is achieved by first creating a 'styling buck' from the drawings

and then refining the lines and shape in a variety of lighting conditions

until its form is pure and free from any discordant elements

- a much neglected and vitally important 'crossover' idea from the

world of automotive design.
