Barcelona
Barcelona is a dynamic city: colourful, energetic, proud, hip and fashionable. To Catalans, Barcelona is not in Spain but is the capital of a different country - Catalunya. In fact it doesn't feel like Spain - you may love it but what you love will be different from what attracts you to the rest of the country. A bilingual city, with a growing sense of self confidence Barcelona is in fashion.

The Sights:
The Ramblas a mile of unending activity, street performers - flower stalls and general merriment for which Barcelona is famous. Sagrada Familiar - a cathedral that looks like some kind of gothic space rocket designed earlier this century by Antonio Gaudi an eccentric architect. This is the one, which appears on all the post cards and travel brochures. Other buildings by Gaudi - he left his mark on the city by producing lots of other fantasy buildings. Montjuic - a hill you can reach by a spectacular cable car ride - Picasso museum - Old Gothic Quarter and Cathedral. Full details on these and more on arrival.

Weather:
Barcelona is located on the Mediterranean coast and so the climate is always mild and nearly always sunny.

Spanish (Catalonian) hours and nightlife:
Spain is very late. The nightlife doesn't really get going until past midnight. Everything happens later than in the UK. If we didn't follow Spanish hours we'd miss everything. So for a weekend break you may find yourself wanting to stay up late and sleep in. Some people, not all, don't like to eat a heavy meal in the evening so as not to spoil the evenings dancing, which is why we generally suggest tapas bars in the evenings.
Your skipper
Your skipper will also be your guide to Barcelona and can suggest a wide range of places to visit catering to your own particular tastes. Especially the nightlife!
