Recent Advances in the Engineering Simulation of Composite Materials - Conference

Recent Advances in the Engineering Simulation of Composite Materials

MSC.Software, leading suppliers of Simulation and Engineering-IT solutions have announced a second technology seminar on the use of engineering simulation for composite materials. Among the 250 registrations for the first seminar were GKN Westland, BAe Systems, Rolls Royce, Nokia, Inbis, Daewoo, Mclaren Cars, Lotus, Taylor Woodrow & the Formula-1 teams Jordan, Arrows, Benetton and British American Racing.

With the provocative title ‘Black Metal or Black Art ?’ the follow up seminar is again aimed at practioners of composites technology from the aerospace, automotive and autosport industries; but, located in the heart of Southampton’s waterfront and coinciding with the international yachting activities at Cowes week, the seminar will also address the needs of designers and engineers from the composite yacht and other marine & leisure industries.

The technology of composite materials continues to advance at a rapid rate, requiring an ever increasing sophistication in the engineering software tools designed to simulate their mechanical behaviour. Layup optimisation, de-lamination, impact & fatigue are all aspects of composite construction which it is now possible to simulate with increasing confidence.

Through technical presentations from MSC.Software and case studies from partners SP Systems, Engenuity, Vistagy, Cranfield Aerospace Centre, Farnborough-Aircraft.com and Adris, this seminar is designed to explore these advances, and will leave delegates fully up to date with the techniques and software tools currently available. The seminar will be accompanied by a Technology Exhibition and will be optionally followed by a 2-day training session on MSC.Laminate Modeller.

‘Black Metal or Black Art ?’ will be held on Wednesday 1 August, 2001 at the PostHouse Hotel, Southampton. Seminar registration is free. For details & reservations contact Jennifer Fullhardt on +44(0)1276 601900.
